Tegan has provided support on a number of projects for agencies like IFRC, ASEAN, and UNDRR. Since joining the team in 2023, Tegan has gained international experience in gender inclusion in disaster risk reduction, interrelationship between disaster law and public health law, and international disaster law and policy research. She is particularly interested in human trafficking and modern slavery and its nexus with challenges like climate change, disaster risk, and socio-economic strains.

With a Master of International Relations and Bachelor of Justice Studies, Tegan brings strong analytical, research, and writing skills. She has a solid understanding of international structures and institutions, and legal and political frameworks. With particular understanding on human rights conventions and analytical tools to understand international policy.

Tegan has experience working in the union movement and industrial relations, requiring strong negotiation and interpretive skills, leadership and empowerment skills, and decision-making that makes real impacts on people’s livelihoods. She has drafted policies and memorandums, reviewed clauses for industrial instruments, developed educational material and led webinars, and represented parties in the industrial commission.

Sitting on the international humanitarian law advisory board for the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Red Cross, in a voluntary capacity until 2024, Tegan brought international humanitarian law to the community in a meaningful and accessible way. Her ability to integrate and synthesise complex issues and conventions mean that she is an efficient and effective contributor to research projects.
