Global Mapping of Human Mobility and Disaster Risk Reduction
About this project
Led by UNHCR and UNDRR, and in collaboration with IOM and PDD, this work maps and analyses human mobility related provisions in DRR laws, strategies, and policies at the national and regional levels, in addition to selected case studies at the local level.
The project provides insights for policy makers and others working to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 across humanitarian, development and peace-building objectives, and which prioritise at-risk countries or communities. In particular, displaced people living in fragile and conflict affected contexts. It aims to support wider efforts to integrate human mobility-related provisions across policy processes in the disaster risk and climate policy spaces.
This project builds upon the mapping exercise commissioned in 2018 by PDD in partnership with UNDRR: “Mapping the Baseline – To What Extent Are Displacement and Other Forms of Human Mobility Integrated in National and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Strategies?”. Compared to the earlier baseline, this project had a wider scope and incorporated case studies analysing local DRR plans and strategies, and provided a breakdown of displaced and migrant populations where feasible.
