About this project

This work involved undertaking a scoping of the Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) component of the project Priority River Basin Flood Risk Management Project in Nepal. The wider project aimed to access resources from the ASEAN Develop Fund Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Funding to support the Government of Nepal to strengthen flood control hydraulic structures, early warning systems and flood risk management, including at the community level.

Victoria Bannon worked closely with the consulting firm engaged for project preparation to develop a description of the national policy framework to support CBDRM at local level and key lessons learned from implementation of CBDRM in the Terai region. Recommendations and broad costings for implementation for CBDRM related activities were made.
