About this project

This report was part of a wider Asia-Pacific regional project on Women’s Resilience to Disasters and Climate Change in Asia and the Pacific. It conducts a gender analysis of the national legal and policy frameworks of Lao People's Democratic Republic to determine whether laws, policies, and strategies consider gender inequalities as they relate to climate and disaster risk and contribute to strengthening women’s resilience.

The project included Dr Mary Picard, working with Justice Robyn Layton, who consulted on laws and policies to support women’s resilience to climate change and disasters in Asia and the Pacific (Fiji, Lao PDR, Mongolia and global). The wider project included two streams:

(1) Regional good practice guide on how legislative frameworks can support women’s resilience to climate change and disasters; and

(2) National case studies in law and policy analysis and capacity building on gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in CC and DRM, including national reports and regional policy brief (with Robyn Layton): Fiji, Lao PDR, Mongolia.
