About this project

HDC was engaged by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) to develop a high-level and high-quality 2-year Strategy Paper for the Development Law Service’s (LEGN) work on in the context of law and climate change. It set out the overall objectives and direction, as well as identified specific activities to be pursued by LEGN within the framework of FAO’s strategies and plans, and the priorities identified by Member States.

The project involved the development of a Roadmap, providing guidance on how to fund and implement the 2-Year Strategy and included a stakeholder map, identification of potential areas for resource mobilisation, suggestions for tangible ways of addressing capacity gaps, as well as for locating strategic opportunities for internal and external collaboration.

This project contributed to the implementation of the FAO Development Law Service’s (LEGN) 2018-2019 work plan objective to develop its capacity to provide technical legal assistance to FAO Member States on legal mechanisms contributing to addressing climate change in food and agriculture (including forestry and fisheries).
